The creative work begins with a long field study. Hundreds of hours of observation in zoos, stud farms, museums and circuses produces thousands of sketches. These allow the artist to store up in his memory the volumes, the plans, the muscles, the characteristics and the spirit of each animal.
These sketches are then transformed into models. The clay is particularly suitable for this research work and for the form analysis. These small subjects are then extended for the realization of the full size bronze and marble sculptures.

Michel BASSOMPIERRE also creates monumental sculptures from his own models. The clay gives away to the polyurethane foam and to the plaster. The original mold is then used to cast in bronze.
